Exam Fees and Types:
Most exams are our standard exam - $55. These are everything from a general wellness exam to a super sick pet exam.
We also accept urgent and emergency exams during our open hours. These exams are $65 to $75 based on walk-in stable versus emergency rush in.
If you are bringing more than one pet for an exam, our additional pet exam fee is $45.
Sometimes, we like to recheck conditions - ear infections to make sure they've resolved, repeat xrays to make sure medications are working, etc. These recheck exams are usually $25. If they are a much more involved "recheck", they are $40.
We also offer "Tech Appointments" - you just want some vaccines, a nail trim, a microchip, etc, that fee is $10 plus whatever services you choose.
For animals who are completely up to date on vaccines and who have no concerns and are apparently healthy, we offer a Medical Authorization visit for $10 - this is where the doctor does a very abbreviated exam to ensure there are no glaring issues. This allows you to get prescriptions for various medications because it establishes the Veterinarian - Client - Patient Relationship.
We try to encourage everyone to make an appointment, whether it's an exam or a tech appointment or a med auth. However, we know sometimes walk-ins are what fit best in your schedule. We do allow them most of the time, unless we are so busy that it will be more than a 2 hour wait. Those walk-ins will get a $5 walk-in fee added on.
If your pet has had surgery with us, we offer surgery recheck exams for up to 2 weeks post surgery for no charge. Please note, though, that if you are bringing your pet for a "recheck" and it has nothing to do with the surgery, you will be charged an exam.
What to expect when you come to the clinic:
If you have never been to our clinic, it might be a bit daunting at first. We are mission-based, trying to bring as many services as possible to the animals that need it. Our veterinarians are typically doing multiple things at once, so we rely on our support staff to keep things moving. To keep our prices lower, we have to keep our volume higher - that's how we pass the savings on to you.
Whether you're coming for surgery or coming for an exam, you will probably encounter a line of people. And there will probably be some sort of wait. We try desperately to reduce the wait times, but because we take emergencies, because we have staff who call out or quit with no notice, sometimes things don't go as smoothly as we would like. Please know we try very hard to keep everything moving.
For surgeries, you will be asked to fill out surgery paperwork and then go over the paperwork with the front staff member. We try to be as complete as possible with our enquiries to best serve you and your pet(s). Your pet will then be brought to our kennels in the back to wait for his/her turn at surgery. Once your pet is out of surgery, recovered, and the paperwork is processed, you will receive a text or a call letting you know your pet is ready for pick-up.
For appointments, you may not always get to talk to the veterinarian, especially if we have a lot of emergencies or very sick patients. We don't always have the ability to put clients and patients in an exam room. And, for basic exams, we rely on our veterinary assistant team to discuss parasite control, diagnostic tests, and answer most basic questions. You can, however, request to be in an exam room with the doctor. And as long as the doctor is not in the middle of a life-threatening emergency, she will come speak with you. For most basic exams, your veterinary assistant will bring your pet to our treatment area and the doctor will examine him/her, address any concerns, recommend specific diagnostics based on the status of your pet and purpose of the exam, and then your veterinary assistant will relay those findings and recommendations. We strive to provide an estimate of all services so you can see up front what your bill will be. If you need additional information, please ask your veterinary assistant.
We know we're not the right fit for everyone, and luckily there are a lot of very good veterinary clinics with more traditional set-ups nearby. Our clinic is here for a purpose - to try to keep prices low to help keep pets in the home, thereby reducing the euthanasia rates while improving the welfare of animals in our region.
If you have more questions about what your visit will look like, please ask the Call Center Representative when you make your appointment.
